Search works great if you already know what you want

Maya here 🔭 Search is incredible when you already know the answer. “White sneakers, size 8.” “Noise-cancelling headphones.” “Carry-on suitcase.” ... Easy. But what about: I need something interesting for a friend's birthday. I want to change something about my room. I want a watch but not the same five watches everyone keeps showing me. Or simply: “I don't know. I just want to look around.” That's not really a search problem. It's a discovery problem. Discovery needs places to wander. Ideas to follow. Stores you didn't know existed. Perspectives you hadn't considered. And occasionally… a really good rabbit hole. 🐇 So here's today's thought: Don't always ask the internet to find what you already know.
